Charlie Green is Back on Philippine Music
Charlie Green is back! It’s been five years since Charlie Green wowed everybody at “Britain’s Got Talent” and now this boy is all grown up and ready to face the spotlight anew with the release of his brand new album entitled “Rainbow.” You can be sure that Charlie’s new album would be every bit as colorful as its namesake – Starting with the catchy lead single, and title track “Rainbow” -- a cheerful pop number that thrusts Charlie right into ‘Tween pop territory -- which makes sense as Charlie’s right about the same age and is well into his mid teens.
Now that Charlie’s grown up, it’s no surprise that Charlie would be trying out new sounds and it shows all throughout “Rainbow.” Charlie goes pop-rock, doing well in his cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Don’t Stop,” then jumps to keyboard based pop, like in the euro-sounding dance track “Liquid Ice,” then onto the upbeat, synth-driven numbers “Zoom Zoom Zoom,” and “Just My Type.” Charlie Green’s producers also saw to it that the young kid should dabble in some Latin–flavored pop like in “Chica-Ya-Ya,” and in the dance-Samba “Infatuation.” For good measure, Charlie Green also tucked a few 60’s classics in his new album namely his covers of The Monkees’ “Day Dream Believer,” and The Four Tops original “Reach Out (I’ll Be There)” and there’s his cover of a much newer track in “Sukiyaki.” The 15-year old singer, which at one point Simon Cowell called a “fantastic” singer, can also be heard doing an English-Spanish song called “It’s Impossible (Isomos Novios)” featuring Danna Paola.
Charlie Green coming back to his second home wouldn’t be complete without him singing a Tagalog favorite (he’s half Pinoy-half Brit), and he doesn’t disappoint with his cover of Nonoy Zuniga’s “Kamusta Ka” which turns out to be a fun listen. See if you could stop yourself from gushing how cute this young man is singing in Tagalog.
In all, it’s a varied, but fun outing with Charlie Green in “Rainbow.” Young, good looking, and just starting out new things musically. It’s an exciting time to be Charlie Green right now and the great thing about it is that he’s bringing you along for the ride.
