Up and coming pop star Anja Aguilar is the latest addition to Viva’s constellation of stars. Discovered via her breakthrough triumph at “Little Big Star” – the young singer is now being primed and readied for greater things with the release of her solo self-titled album.
Anja Aguilar, like singing stars before her, is going through a familiar rite of passage, that of singing original materials by prolific songwriter Vehnee Saturno.
Anja becomes the perfect vehicle for Saturno’s lovelorn ballads and Anja for her part does not disappoint. Brand new love songs such as “I Love You,” and “When,” and the tagalog “Nasaan Ang Pangako” are familiar sounding tunes cut in the mold of contemporary hits by Sarah Geronimo and Rachelle Ann Go and is ably carried by Anja. Anja also is lucky to be singing brand new songs by up and coming songwriter and hitmaker Christian Martinez, and their combination makes for some pretty modern sounding OPM pop like the mid-tempo, acoustic guitar-driven ditty “Ako Para Sa ‘Yo,” and the piano decked “Di Bale Na Lang.” The Anja Aguilar-Christian Martinez singer and songwriter pairing also came up with the pop-py number “Magic Of Love” and another catchy original Tagalog song in “Ako.”
Judging from the sound and feel of her new album, Anja has the makings of a new pop superstar what with her powerful singing and exceptional voice quality.
